Kew, London

A project in transforming the surrounding gardens of Cambridge cottage, Kew to an event space within West London. Taking a nod to the River Thames and the once floodplains of the lower thames valley, this project developed the understanding of how urban flood plains can be developed to help alleviate the risk of flooding in local communities. A swale garden was developed with sustainable urban design at fore, the spoil is to be used as as mounded planting beds and the inclusion of rammed earth walls following a linear route across the gardens. The gardens will be ever evolving as the water fills and drains from the swales and the planting moves through the seasons.
